A few more Rails jobs in NYC, Santa Clara

Sebastian Delmont from New York City is looking for 1-2 full-time (no telecommuting) Ruby on Rails developers for a new consumer-focused startup. Write him sd at notso.net. 3 Leaf Networks is looking for a single programmer in Santa Clare for work on another start-up in Rails.

Wow, the 3 Leaf Networks job listing is really bothering me. They have a full “PRD” (product requirements document, presumably) which is good. The PRD specifies that it’s going to have a Web 2.0, AJAX interface, with a remote SOAP API. From that I would infer that either they have a strong technology background, or they’re trying to capitalize on the buzzwords in Tim O’Reilly’s “What is Web 2.0?” article.
Reading further, they haven’t decided whether they’re going to use Rails or Catalyst. (I had to do some research on Catalyst: it’s a web framework for Perl.) This is where it starts to break down. They’ve picked all their cool buzzword technology
- even Rails and Catalyst -but they haven’t yet decided whether they’re going to use Ruby or Perl?Something feels wrong with this picture…

Sounds like they know what their requirements are (both GUI and API) but haven’t yet chosen a technology. Nothing is wrong with that, IMO.
They are looking for a … <em>single</em> ... developer?
Yep, something feels really wrong with this picture.
